Red Green Future Star hold Atlético Charlone to thrilling 1-1 Draw
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh’s Red Green Future Star shared the spoils in a thrilling encounter against Argentina’s Buenos Aires-based Atlético Charlone, finishing 1-1 in their second and final match of the AFB Latin-Bangla Super Cup at the National Stadium.
The hosts took an early lead in the fourth minute when Masud broke the offside trap and fired a precise shot into the net, despite appeals from the visitors for offside. Red Green looked set to double their advantage in the 21st minute as Mohammad Manik sprinted past defenders and slotted a shot past the goalkeeper, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.
Atlético Charlone responded in the second half, with Alian Sarmiento equalizing with a stunning strike that sneaked through a defender’s legs into the near post, leaving the home defense stunned. Red Green had further chances to reclaim the lead, including an 87th-minute free kick from Masud that rattled the post after brushing the goalkeeper’s gloves.
The match also saw tempers flare in the 76th minute, resulting in red cards for David Bevcini and Matias Rosales of the visitors, along with Bangladesh’s Ishan Habib Redwan.
In stoppage time, Masud produced a crucial goal-line clearance, denying Atlético Charlone a late winner. Despite the draw, Red Green Future Star displayed fighting spirit and tactical discipline, giving fans hope for the country’s young talents in international competition.
