Reserves rise again.
Bangla Press Desk: As of today, Sunday, the country's total foreign currency reserves have risen to $36.21 billion according to Bangladesh Bank's own calculation.
Meanwhile, under the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) BPM-6 calculation method, the reserves have increased to $31.40 billion.
Arif Hossain Khan, the spokesperson for Bangladesh Bank, confirmed this information on Sunday (October 11).
Central bank sources indicate that on October 8, reserves stood at $36.15 billion by Bangladesh Bank's own calculation and $31.34 billion under the BPM-6 method. On October 7, the figures were $36.12 billion and $31.31 billion, respectively. On September 29, reserves were $36.14 billion (own calculation) and $31.29 billion (BPM-6). On September 20, they stood at $36.30 billion (own calculation) and $31.45 billion (BPM-6).
Prior to that, on September 16, reserves were $36.32 billion (own calculation) and $31.46 billion (BPM-6). On September 10, the figures were $36.27 billion and $31.36 billion, respectively. On September 8, reserves stood at $36.43 billion (own calculation) and $31.52 billion (BPM-6).
Earlier, import bills amounting to $1.39 billion for July and August of this year were settled with the Asian Clearing Union (ACU). Consequently, on September 6, reserves stood at $36.38 billion (own calculation) and $31.47 billion (BPM-6). As of September 1, the reserves stood at $37.40 billion according to Bangladesh Bank's own calculation, and at $32.49 billion according to the BPM-6 standard.
