Rishad continues impressive run in BBL as Hurricanes cruise past Renegades
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain delivered another assured performance in the ongoing Big Bash League, bowling with control and precision to help Hobart Hurricanes register a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Melbourne Renegades on Sunday and move to the top of the points table.
After Hurricanes captain Nathan Ellis won the toss and opted to field, Rishad was introduced in the fifth over and immediately applied the brakes on the scoring. He conceded just seven runs in his first over, which included a solitary boundary, and followed it up with another tight over that again cost only seven runs as the Renegades batters found it difficult to read his variations.
The 23-year-old tightened his grip further in his third over, giving away only three runs and building sustained pressure, despite remaining wicketless at that stage. His persistence paid off in his fourth and final over when he clean-bowled Jake Fraser-McGurk with a well-disguised googly. Rishad finished with impressive figures of one for 21 from four overs.
England all-rounder Chris Jordan was the standout bowler for Hurricanes, returning remarkable figures of four for 19, while skipper Ellis supported well with two wickets. The disciplined bowling effort restricted Melbourne Renegades to 145 for nine in their allotted overs.
In reply, Hurricanes lost a couple of early wickets before Nikhil Chaudhary and Ben McDermott took control of the chase. Chaudhary struck an aggressive 79 off 38 balls, while McDermott added a fluent 49 from 33 deliveries, as Hobart Hurricanes comfortably overhauled the target with 37 balls to spare to seal a dominant win.
