Shome shines as Cavalry edge Forge to reach final
Bangla Press Desk: Shamit Shome delivered a commanding all-round performance as Cavalry FC edged Forge 1–0 in the Canadian Premier League semifinal, with Tobias Warschewski scoring the decisive goal in the 57th minute.
The midfielder was instrumental in Cavalry’s victory, showcasing composure and tireless work rate throughout the match.
He completed 93% of his passes, won eight ground duels, and made vital defensive contributions with five successful tackles and three clearances. His balance between defensive solidity and attacking support provided the platform for Cavalry’s midfield dominance.
After the match, Shome praised his team’s resilience and discipline under pressure.
“You saw things got a bit spicy both in the first half and second half. But again, we’ve trained for these moments. We’ve trained for things to get heated,” Shome said.
Confident about Cavalry’s momentum heading into the final, he added, “Our full focus was on this result and executing. I think now we’re on to the next project, which is Ottawa away in a big final game.”
