Tarek lauds preparation leading upto Pakistan series
Bangla Press Desk: North Zone bowling coach Tarek Aziz has lauded the current domestic setup as the definitive audition for the national side ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh.
The 42-year old believes the presence of the country's elite talent provides the perfect litmus test for the Bangladesh Cricket Board selectors to finalise the squad."If you look, almost all of Bangladesh’s top players are here," Tarek noted. "This is an opportunity for the selectors as well; if they had any doubts about anyone, they can observe them clearly here."
Regarding the surface at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, the former Bangladesh paceman expressed optimism that the groundstaff are moving away from Mirpur’s sluggish reputation.
"I think excellent wickets were produced during the Bangladesh Premier League. So, we can hope that Mirpur is trying to move away from its (usual) character," he stated.
Tarek further highlighted the importance of versatility, noting that varied conditions across Bogura, Rajshahi, and Mirpur would sharpen the players' tactical adaptability.
Addressing the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tarek was steadfast in his support for the current captain’s influence on the dressing room.
"Shanto is an extraordinary captain. We have no doubt about his captaincy materials," Tarek said, though he deferred the final call on a multi-format leadership structure to the board.
"In the long run, whoever the board gives responsibility to—from a player’s perspective—Shanto’s job is to perform. If he can perform, the team will benefit the most," he concluded.Source: daily Sun
