Bangla Press Desk: Former Australian umpire Simon Taufel has been appointed as the consultant of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) umpires’ education department. The announcement was made by BCB umpires committee chairman Iftekhar Rahman Mithu on Saturday in Mirpur.
Bangladeshi ICC Elite Panel umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat has been named the head of the department.
Taufel confirmed that he signed a two-year contract. “I'm humbled to be part of that process going forward for the next couple of years. I’m here to help create a better environment for umpires and referees to grow, develop, and improve Bangladesh cricket,” he said.
He will begin his work with the upcoming National Cricket League (NCL) T20 starting on 14 September.
