Bangla Press Desk: Opposition leader and Jamaat-e-Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that a liberation war has become inevitable due to the Pakistani government's failure to respect the vote. He made these remarks in the National Assembly on Thursday (April 30). Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed presided over the session.Shafiqur Rahman said, as long as the country has the existing constitution, we can protest against it, but we will not rebel for any change. This is my responsibility as a citizen.
The Jamaat Amir said, we respect the 1947 border, because that is the foundation of the present Bangladesh. However, he also mentioned the loss of some land due to not being able to protect the river.
The opposition leader said, although the Awami League got a huge vote in the 1970 elections, it did not give due respect to the public opinion. He commented that just as the Pakistani government denied the results of the vote, the Awami League also failed to evaluate that vote later.
He also said that the liberation war became inevitable due to the Pakistani government's failure to respect the vote. They are the ones who strangled that vote again.
In addition, the Jamaat Amir criticized Baksal and the 1972 constitution. He said, President Ziaur Rahman later changed the constitution, so in the current context, it is not logical to raise the question of returning to the 1972 constitution.
This leader said, these people are tired of hearing stories about the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan. Now they don't want to hear stories anymore, they want to see action. During the elections, we promised that Allah Almighty will decide who will come to the government or not. If we get that opportunity, our first step will be to give the first spade a spade in the Teesta River. We will start working from here.
The Jamaat Amir said, we have had the opportunity to travel more or less all over Bangladesh. Honestly, I have not seen such unfortunate people like the people of Teestapar anywhere else in the country.
This leader said, I remember my farmer father with deep respect. He was a farmer from an ordinary village. I was not born in a luxurious environment; I grew up seeing the struggle of hungry people. People suffered the most in the months of Chaitra and Kartik. At that time, people used to talk more about the Bengali month, now we have become very English-oriented.
The opposition leader mentioned that extortionists cannot be part of any party. He said, these are caste thieves who have ruined the name of the party. By identifying them, we pledge from this parliament that we will eradicate extortion from Bangladesh at any cost. Many precious lives have been lost in in-fighting in various places due to the occupation, and I express my condolences to them. Source: daily Sun
