The US has become further weakened by the war with Iran: Obama
Bangla Press Desk: Former US President Barack Obama has claimed that the United States has become more vulnerable than before as a result of its involvement in a conflict with Iran.
He made these remarks during an election rally in the city of Morrow, Georgia, on Wednesday (October 28).
Barack Obama stated that by engaging in a conflict with Iran, the United States has placed itself at greater risk.
At the rally, the former US president criticized Donald Trump’s arguments in favor of initiating a conflict with Iran. He pointed out that Iran did not possess any nuclear weapons; rather, its nuclear program had been brought under control through an agreement signed between Tehran and his administration in 2015.
"I didn't have to fire a single missile," Obama said. "I chose the path of diplomacy."
He also highlighted the costs and damages resulting from the conflict with Iran. "Our allies and military bases have been attacked. Americans have been killed, and hundreds more have been wounded. Our missile stockpiles have been depleted, leaving us more vulnerable. And now, Iran has effectively gained the power to exercise a veto over the Strait of Hormuz," Obama said.
He added, "This is why oil prices have gone up." Source: Al Jazeera
