Tigers rise to ninth in ODI team rankings
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh have moved to ninth position in the International Cricket Council’s team rankings for One Day Internationals following their recent 2-1 series win at home to Pakistan. The Tigers now have 79 rating points, two more than the West Indies at 10th.
To secure direct qualification for the main stage of the 2027 Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, Bangladesh must finish among the top eight teams in the rankings by 31 March, 2027. Teams outside that bracket will have to go through a qualifying tournament. The men in red and green have a packed ODI calendar ahead.
New Zealand are scheduled to tour in April for a three-game ODI series, while the Tigers are expected to play 23 ODIs across home and away assignments before the qualification deadline.
The schedule could also include a three-match home series against India if that tour proceeds as planned.
