Visa uncertainty clouds Soumya Sarkar’s comeback ahead of Sharjah T20Is

Bangla Press Desk:  Bangladesh’s T20I series against Afghanistan faces a potential setback as visa complications put Soumya Sarkar’s participation in doubt. The left-handed batter was drafted into the squad after regular captain Litton Das was ruled out with a side muscle strain sustained during the Asia Cup.

While Litton returns home on 1 October for treatment, Soumya now faces uncertainty over whether he can reach Sharjah in time for the series opener on 2 October.

Officials say obtaining a visa may take up to three days, and there is no guarantee he will be able to join the team before the first match.

“He hasn’t got the visa yet. We are still trying. Let’s see if we can make it or not,” said a BCB official.

The series in Sharjah, scheduled for 2, 3, and 5 October, could see Bangladesh start without a confirmed replacement for their injured captain.

Soumya, making a comeback to the national side, earned the call-up with strong performances in the NCL T20, scoring 63 and 45 in his first two matches. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
