World Cup fever lifts T Sports to record-breaking broadcast milestone
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh’s only sports-focused television channel, T Sports, set a new broadcast record during the recently concluded FIFA World Cup 2026, which featured a record 48 teams and 104 matches.
After considerable speculation, T Sports secured the live broadcast of all the tournament’s matches in Bangladesh. Two other local television channels also aired the games, but T Sports led by a wide margin in television rating points (TVR).
T Sports recorded a 54% TVR, compared with 12% for Somoy TV and 8% for Channel i.
The channel also set a new record in terms of digital reach, reaching a total of 1.28 billion viewers across platforms. Facebook accounted for the largest share, with 1.1 billion views, while T Sports recorded 10.1 million views on TikTok and 168 million on YouTube.
