10 journalists injured in attack by extortionists in Narsingdi
Bangla Press Desk: At least 10 journalists were injured in a violent attack by local miscreants in front of Dream Holiday Park at Madhabdi in Narsingdi on Monday evening.
The journalists are the members of the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB).
The incident took place during CRAB’s annual picnic when the journalists were returning from the park.
According to witnesses and police, local extortionists demanded money from the vehicle carrying the journalists.

When the CRAB members protested the extortion attempt, the extortionists allegedly swooped on them with locally made weapons.
Journalist Foyez, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital under police protection.
Other injured journalists, including Shahed, Mohsin, Sakhawat Kawsar, and CRAB staff member Lal, received primary treatment at local clinics.
Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Md Abdullah-Al-Faruk said police rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information.
“Two attackers have been arrested from the scene and brought to the police station. Legal action is being taken in this regard,” he told the Daily Sun.
Meanwhile, CRAB leaders condemned the attack and demanded the immediate arrest of all those involved.
They said such a brutal assault on journalists for protesting extortion is unacceptable and called for exemplary punishment to ensure the safety of media professionals.
