13 Army officers brought to tribunal, security significantly reinforced

Bangla Press Desk:  Thirteen army officers are set to appear before the International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday in two separate cases related to enforced disappearances and killings allegedly carried out during the long rule of the Awami League.

Security has been significantly reinforced both inside the tribunal premises and across surrounding areas.

A three-member judicial panel of Tribunal-1, led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, will hear the two cases today.

The hearing was scheduled for 20 November, but the tribunal moved the date after receiving a time petition.

On 26 October, a two-member bench led by Justice Md Shofiul Alam Mahmood set today’s date. The other member of that panel was retired district and sessions judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

They are expected to be produced before ICT‑1 for the second day, as per the schedule.

To maintain law and order, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rab, and police have been deployed in the area since morning.

Earlier on October 22, the officers, who were in the custody of Bangladesh Army, were brought to the tribunal and produced before ICT‑1 amid tight security.
