2 BNP leaders sued for snatching files of govt recruitment test in Thakurgaon
Bangla Press Desk: Forty-nine individuals, including at least two BNP leaders, have been accused in a lawsuit for snatching exam papers from examiners after an employee recruitment test in Haripur upazila, Thakurgaon.
The incident happened on Friday afternoon, and the lawsuit was filed on Saturday afternoon, confirmed Haripur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hakim Azad, saying his team were investigating the allegation.Harun-or-Rashid, acting principal at Mednisagar Technical and BM College, filed the lawsuit. The written examination was for the recruitment of eight cleaning staff members at the college.
Haripur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Raihanul Islam confirmed some people forcibly snatched the exam papers and other relevant documents from officials when they were reviewing the sheets at the UNO office.
BNP's Haripur upazila unit President Jamal Uddin, another BNP grassroots leader Mokhlesur Rahman, and seven others have been identified as culprits in the lawsuit. The case also accuses 35-40 unnamed individuals.
As per the case statement, Jamal Uddin, Mokhlesur Rahman and others abruptly entered the UNO office in Haripur on Friday afternoon, when the exam sheet review was underway. They created a "mob like situation" and forcibly snatched eht exam sheets and other papers before leaving the office.
When reporters approached Jamal Uddin, he said, there were allegations of "bribery" in the recruitment process, and his team approached the UNO to alert him to this end. However, the UNO ignored the call, prompting the BNP activists to resort to snatching documents from officials.
