2 highways blocked in Bhanga for redrawing parliamentary constituency boundaries
Bangla Press Desk:  Local residents are holding blockade programme in protest against the decision to include Algi and Hamirdi unions in Nagarkanda upazila by splitting Bhanga upazila in Faridpur, bringing two highways to a standstill. Since 9 am on Friday, (5 September), protesters have simultaneously blocked roads at the Pukuria and Hamirdi bus stands on the Dhaka-Barisal highway, as well as the Suadi and Algi bus stands on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. Due to the blockade, traffic on both the Dhaka-Khulna and Dhaka-Barisal highways has come to a complete shutdown. Long-distance buses and goods-laden trucks get stuck, resulting in extreme suffering for general commuters. Police from Bhanga Highway Police Station and other local police stations are trying to bring the situation under control at the scene. However, the protesters have not yet left the highways. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
