Bangla Press Desk: Local residents are holding blockade programme in protest against the decision to include Algi and Hamirdi unions in Nagarkanda upazila by splitting Bhanga upazila in Faridpur, bringing two highways to a standstill.
Since 9 am on Friday, (5 September), protesters have simultaneously blocked roads at the Pukuria and Hamirdi bus stands on the Dhaka-Barisal highway, as well as the Suadi and Algi bus stands on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.
Due to the blockade, traffic on both the Dhaka-Khulna and Dhaka-Barisal highways has come to a complete shutdown. Long-distance buses and goods-laden trucks get stuck, resulting in extreme suffering for general commuters.
