24-hour surveillance at mandaps, no fairs allowed during Durga Puja: Home adviser
Bangla Press Desk:  Home Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said on Monday that the government would ensure round-the-clock surveillance of 33,000 puja mandaps across the country to guarantee the peaceful celebration of Durga Puja – the largest religious festival of Hindu community. “Three members of the law enforcement agencies will be deployed at each mandap during the day and four at night throughout Durga Puja,” he said after a meeting on security arrangements ahead of the festival, held at the secretariat. The home adviser also announced that no fairs would be permitted around the mandaps this year to prevent consumption and gathering of alcohol and cannabis.  This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
