33,000 mandaps to get 500kg rice each this Durga Puja
Bangla Press Desk: Each puja mandap will receive 500 kilograms of rice this Durga Puja, as the government allocates 16,496 metric tonnes for 32,990 mandaps across 64 districts. The Department of Disaster Management sent allocation letters to deputy commissioners on Wednesday. The allocation letter stated that 16,495 tonnes of rice have been allocated for 32,990 puja mandaps across 64 districts for Durga Puja, providing 500 kilograms per mandap to feed the devotees. According to the letter, deputy commissioners will distribute the rice to upazilas based on the number, size, scale, financial capacity, and other relevant factors of the mandaps in their districts.
If a district has fewer mandaps or temples, the surplus rice must be stored, reported to the Department of Disaster Management, and properly accounted for auditing purposes, the letter added. Durga Puja, the biggest festival of the Hindu community, will begin on 28 September. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
