68,000 Tonnes of Diesel Reach Chattogram Port on Two Ships

Bangla Press Desk:  Two more vessels carrying some 68,000 tonnes of diesel arrived at Chattogram port on Tuesday. 

With this, a total of four vessels carrying diesel arrived in the country this month, amid concerns over supply of fuel oil due to the conflict in the Middle East. Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) Secretary Syed Refayet Hamim told the Daily Sun that the vessels now stationed at the Outer Anchorage of the port and unloading activities will begin soon. 

Of the vessels, MT Torm Damini is carrying around 33,000 tonnes of diesel supplied by Unipac Singapore Pte Ltd while  MT Lucia Solis 35,000 tonnes supplied by Vitol Asia. Both vessels carried the essential fuel from Malaysia. 

Earlier, a vessel carrying jet fuel arrived at Chattogram Port from Singapore on Tuesday. The vessel Great Princess carrying around 12,000 tonnes of the aviation energy berthed at the port jetty. 

The cargo was supplied by Indian Oil Corporation Limited. 

Earlier on 3 April, MT Yuan Jing He brought around 27,000 tonnes of diesel, followed by another 34,000 tonnes carried by MT Shan Gang Fa Jian on the same day. 

With the arrival of the two additional vessels, officials expect some relief in fuel supply pressure.
