98% of garment factories have paid Eid bonus: BGMEA

Bangla Press Desk:  Of the 2,127 operational factories in Dhaka and Chattogram, 2,080 garment factories have disbursed the Eid bonus to their workers, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).

The statement said a total of 2,127 factories are currently operating in the two cities, with 1,785 in Dhaka and 342 in Chattogram.A total of 2,104 factories, or 98.92 per cent, have already paid salaries for the month of February. Of the 2,104 factories, 1,767 are from Dhaka and 337 are from Chattogram.

Regarding the Eid bonus, 2,080 factories, or 97.79 per cent, have completed payments, comprising 1,753 in Dhaka and 327 in Chattogram.

Additionally, 870 factories, representing 40.90 per cent of the total, are expected to pay March salaries in advance, including 840 in Dhaka and 30 in Chattogram.Source: daily Sun
