Bangla Press Desk: The Bangladesh Army launched an operation early Tuesday in the remote hill areas of Baghaichhari, Rangamati, targeting a hideout of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF).
During the raid, exchange of gunfire took place between army personnel and suspected UPDF members.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation resulted in the recovery of a cache of weapons and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle and other firearms. The military did not confirm any casualties but said the operation is ongoing.
The remote and rugged terrain of the area is known to be a hotspot for separatist activity, and law enforcement agencies have long suspected that armed groups use the region to store weapons and conduct operations.
