Babubazar multi-storey building fire under control
Bangla Press Desk: A fire that broke out on the sixth floor of a 14-storey building named Haji Tower near Babubazar bridge in the Armanitola area of Old Dhaka early Tuesday has been brought under control.
According to Fire Service and Civil Defence sources, they received the report of the fire at around 6:40am and reached the scene within five minutes. A total of nine firefighting units were deployed to bring the blaze under control.
Of the units, two were from Sadarghat Fire Station, five from Siddiqbazar Fire Station and two from Sutrapur Fire Station, officials said.
The fire was brought under control at around 7:20am.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be determined immediately.
No information on casualties was available from the Fire Service at the time of filing this report.
The building is reported to house a bag manufacturing factory.
