Babul new president, Shanto secretary of Georgia Bangladesh Association
Noman Sabit: In the general election of the historic Bangladesh Association of Georgia in the U.S state of Georgia, Arefin Babul has been elected president and Ahmed Hasan Shanto has been elected general secretary. The election was held on Sunday (November 30) at the Global Mall auditorium. Two panels competed in this year’s election.
No panel won an outright majority this time. Candidates from both panels were elected to various positions. Arefin Babul from the Babul–Rauf panel was elected president, while Ahmed Hasan Shanto from the Shamim–Shanto panel was elected general secretary.
The other winners are as follows: Vice Presidents: Zahid Islam Shyamal (Shamim–Shanto panel) and Sanjoy Das Ripon (Babul–Rauf panel), Joint General Secretary: Mohammad Tuhin Khan (Shamim–Shanto panel), Treasurer: Nipa Das (Shamim–Shanto panel), Organizing Secretary: Ahmed Rauf Sadi (Babul–Rauf panel),
Literature & Cultural Secretary: Sindha Dutta Moni (Babul–Rauf panel), Public Relations Secretary: Mehjabin Naz (Shamim–Shanto panel), Sports Secretary: Redowan Palash (Shamim–Shanto panel),
5 Executive Members are as follows: Abu Talukdar, Nazmia Mahtab Zara and Belayet Hossain Ratan all three from the Shamim–Shanto panel, Mohammad Humayun Kabir and Sohrab Uddin Ahmed from the Babul–Rauf panel.
The election commission was led by Chief Election Commissioner Reza Karim. Other members included Mohammad Khan Russell, Ila Chanda, Mohin Uddin Dulal and Russell Bhuiyan.
