BAF concludes Cyber Security Awareness Month 2025

Bangla Press Desk:  The closing ceremony of the Cyber Security Awareness Month 2025, organised by the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), was held at Falcon Hall in Dhaka Cantonment on Tuesday.

Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanvir Khan attended the event as the chief guest.

In his concluding remarks, the chief guest commended the month-long awareness initiatives and said the campaign not only engaged Air Force personnel but also their families and the wider community in vital discussions on cyber safety.

“Cyber security stands on three pillars: people, processes and technology, with ‘people’ being the most crucial. No matter how advanced technology becomes, without awareness and vigilance among users, it cannot ensure security. Every click and every decision determines our safety,” he said.

The awareness campaign included special briefings, educational posters, booklets and interactive sessions for officers, airmen and their families.

One of the major achievements of the campaign was reaching more than 17,000 students from classes 8 to 12 across all Shaheen schools nationwide, spreading the message of safe digital practices to the next generation.

Under the leadership of the Chief of Air Staff, the Bangladesh Air Force has formulated a Cyber Defence Roadmap, aligned with the national strategy for building a secure, smart and sovereign cyberspace.

The roadmap emphasises collaboration among the government, academia and industry to strengthen the country’s cyber defence capabilities.

To ensure long-term impact, cyber awareness is being integrated into every level of BAF’s training framework, enabling all personnel to stay alert to evolving digital threats.

Prof SM Shamim Reza attended the ceremony as a special speaker and delivered a lecture on “Misinformation, Disinformation and the Impact of Social Media in the Digital Age”, underscoring the importance of responsible digital behaviour and critical thinking.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, the ICT Division, the Armed Forces Division, the Bangladesh Army, the Bangladesh Navy, the Bangladesh Air Force, educational institutions and ICT organisations were also present at the ceremony.
