Bangladesh has enough fuel stock amid global tension: Energy minister
Bangla Press Desk : Bangladesh has sufficient fuel reserves and there is no reason for public panic despite global supply concerns triggered by the ongoing Middle East conflict, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud said on Saturday.
The minister made the remarks while briefing journalists after a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka. He said the government has already informed the prime minister about growing public anxiety over fuel supply, as people have been seen rushing to filling stations across the country to purchase petrol and diesel.
“There is adequate stock of all types of fuel. We want to assure the public that there is no reason to be worried,” the minister said.
He added that the government is also exploring alternative supply sources to avoid potential future disruptions. The minister said two more fuel-carrying vessels are scheduled to arrive on 9 March to further strengthen the country’s reserves.
To prevent public inconvenience and curb panic buying, authorities will deploy mobile courts from tomorrow to monitor fuel stations and ensure fair market practices, he informed.Source: daily Sun
