Bangla Press Desk: While a new report, prepared by ILO, UNICEF, shows a sharp decline in child labour in the Asia and the Pacific region, the situation in Bangladesh has not seen similar progress.
The broader child labor rate (detrimental forms of work) remained relatively stable at 4.4% in 2022, up marginally from 4.3% in 2013, indicating that despite significant progress over the past two decades driven by increased school enrollment, Bangladesh is not on track to eliminate child labor by the 2025.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) and UNICEF said in a report released on Thursday.
Most working children remain in informal employment, often facing long hours and poor working conditions.
