Bangladeshi tailor in Dubai wins Tk65cr in lottery debut
Bangla Press Desk: A Bangladeshi tailor based in Dubai won the Dh20-million (approximately Tk 656,937,275) jackpot in Big Ticket’s latest draw — and remarkably, it was his very first time buying a ticket, reports Khaleej Times. Sabuj Miah Amir Hossain Dewan, who has been living in Dubai for the past 18 years, has been working tirelessly to support his family back home in Bangladesh on a modest tailor’s income. Sharing his story, the new millionaire said, “This was my first time purchasing a ticket, and I bought it on my own. I often heard about Big Ticket from friends around me, so I thought, why not take a chance? I travelled to Abu Dhabi and bought the ticket in-store.” The news of his win came as a complete shock. “I’m a humble tailor earning a modest salary, so you can imagine the emotions running through me right now,” he said. “This win has the potential to completely transform my family’s future.”
For now, he’s taking things one step at a time. "I haven’t made any decisions yet about how I’ll use the prize money, I want to speak with my family first. I may consider purchasing from Big Ticket again in the future, but for now, I’m simply grateful and content with this incredible win," the 36-year-old added. But Sabuj wasn’t the only lucky winner this month. Another Bangladeshi expat, who has lived in Sharjah since 2009, also saw his persistence pay off. Parvez Hosen Anower Hossain, a 42-year-old business man, won a brand new Range Rover Velar. For years, Parvez has made the monthly trip from Sharjah to Abu Dhabi with a friend, faithfully purchasing Big Ticket entries in-store. “Every month, for the past four years, I’ve driven from Sharjah to Abu Dhabi to buy the tickets in person,” he said. “Today, that commitment has truly been rewarded, and I couldn’t be happier.”
While he hasn’t yet decided what to do with the luxury car, he says his family’s input will help shape the next step. One thing’s certain — he has no plans to stop entering the draw. "I will continue participating in Big Ticket draws. Why wouldn’t I? It’s brought me and my family so much happiness, and I’d encourage others to give it a try as well.” The raffle has previously announced the launch of its August grand promotion, with one lucky winner set to take home an incredible Dh15-million grand prize during the live draw on 3 September.  This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
