BNP Leader Declares No Scope to Back Jamaat
Bangla Press Desk: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Thursday that there is no room for supporting Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami due to its role against Bangladesh’s independence during the Liberation War.
“How can those who did not believe in the country’s independence contribute to its development? They do not even have faith in the country. That is why we will not vote for Jamaat. The party is not trustworthy, as it is uncertain whether they can protect our independence and sovereignty,” he said.
Fakhrul made the remarks during an election rally at the Farabari High School ground in his Thakurgaon-1 constituency.
Addressing the gathering, he said, “Do you know the Jamaat that existed before the Liberation War? We do. Our fathers and forefathers also witnessed Jamaat before the country’s independence.
“This is a question of morality,” said Mirza Fakhrul, highlighting the role of Jamaat in the country before its independence. Source: daily Sun
