BNP will create one crore new jobs if elected: Amir Khasru
Bangla Press Desk: BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that the party will create employment for one crore people within 18 months if voted to power.
A detailed roadmap on how these jobs will be generated has already been prepared, he added.
He made the remarks on Saturday (8 November) at a seminar titled “Use of Technology in Electoral Manifesto,” held at Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka.
Amir Khasru noted that ensuring a proper voting environment is more important than unveiling manifestos. “I have doubts about how many people actually read manifestos before voting,” he remarked.
Democracy requires regular dialogue and continuous engagement with the people, he said.
He recalled that Begum Khaleda Zia had presented “Vision 2030” eight years ago, and based on changing realities, the party later put forward 27 and then 31 reform proposals, drafted through public consultation.
The newly signed charter, he added, was finalised through consensus, and respecting different opinions is essential. “Breaking that consensus and raising new issues means disrespecting unity,” he warned.
According to him, some political groups attempt to impose their demands, and years of uninterrupted rule under Sheikh Hasina have bred an authoritarian mindset among many. The charter, however, must be implemented by consensus, not by exerting pressure in parliament.
He also questioned whether those trying to delay or obstruct elections are intentionally provoking incidents—an issue he said many now suspect.
Calling for peaceful politics, he added that people do not want violence, even though everyone has the right to protest. “Not all of our 31 points were included in the charter, but BNP is not taking to the streets. We are going to the people. If they give us the mandate, we will implement it,” he said.
