BTCL set to roll out Bangladesh’s first MVNO service
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) is set to launch Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) services for the first time in Bangladesh, marking a significant milestone in the country's telecommunications sector.
Under the MVNO model, mobile services are provided without owning a physical mobile network infrastructure. In the initial phase, BTCL will offer MVNO services using the network of Teletalk Bangladesh Limited. Piloting of this service is scheduled to be launched on February 8, 2026, BTCL MVNO SIM will be availble for customers from February 15, 2026 from BTCL Ramna and Gulshan Customer Care.
Through this initiative, customers will gradually gain access to SIM-based mobile talk time, internet, and SMS services, along with the app-based IP calling service "Alaap." In addition, BTCL GPON broadband internet and popular OTT content platforms such as Toffee, Bongo, Chorki, and Hoichoi will be integrated. This phased rollout will eventually enable triple-play and quad-play services, offering voice, data, broadband, and digital content through a unified platform.
BTCL aims to establish a modern, integrated, and customer-friendly telecommunications ecosystem that is both affordable and smart. The MVNO initiative is expected to reduce Oтт content piracy, ease mobile network access challenges, and enhance the utilization of BTCL's existing infrastructure.
Industry observers believe that the launch of BTCL's MVNO service will open a new chapter in Bangladesh's telecom landscape and contribute significantly to building a smart, inclusive, and digitally connected future for the country. Source: daily Sun
