BUET students issue five-point demand over police attack on fellow
Bangla Press Desk: Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) have placed a five-point demand in response to an attack on a fellow student, warning of tougher protests if authorities fail to act. At a press conference, Zubair Ahmed, a student representative from BUET’s Civil Engineering Department, said the students rejected the probe committee formed by the authorities. He called for a new investigation body comprising teachers, students, and other stakeholders to ensure transparency.
The demands include an apology from the Home Affairs Adviser for the attack, formation of a new representative probe committee, government coverage of medical expenses for the injured, legal action against those who assaulted student Rokon, and immediate dismissal of police personnel allegedly involved in the incident.
Students announced that their sit-in at Shahbagh will continue until these demands are met. They also warned of stricter programs if authorities do not respond promptly.
