Bangla Press Desk:  The University of Dhaka (DU) administration is set to launch a restoration initiative to repaint and preserve the July graffiti displayed on walls across the campus. The repainting campaign will begin on Sunday (July 26) while maintaining the original character, spirit, and historical significance of the artworks.

The announcement was made in a press release issued by the university’s Public Relations Office on Wednesday (July 22).

According to the release, the restoration programme will be inaugurated with the repainting of graffiti along the route from the Vice-Chancellor’s Office to Rokeya Hall.

The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, the University Proctor, and the Director of the Arbory Culture Centre have been assigned to coordinate the programme. Artists who originally created the graffiti following the July Mass Uprising have been invited to participate in the restoration work.

Interested professional and amateur artists have been requested to register their names and addresses by July 25 through WhatsApp at 01716116023.

The initiative is part of DU’s month-long programme marking the second anniversary of the historic July Mass Uprising. As part of the observance, the university has been organising a series of hall-based events, including commemorative programmes, seminars, and remembrance sessions throughout the month.
