Case filed against Hasina, 181 others in Ctg
  Bangla Press Desk: A case was filed against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 181 others for allegedly attacking on the students and people during the student-public movement against the Awami League government last year. A youth identified as AKM Nurullah, a resident of Sitakunda upazila in the district, filed the case with the court of Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakkar Siddique on Monday, said the Plaintiff’s lawyer Tasnim Akter Nishat. The court ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate into the matter, she said. The accused in the case include former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jabed, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Office Secretary Biplob Barua, former Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman, S Alam Group Chairman Saiful Alam Masud and former CMP Commissioner Saiful Alam. However, a former councilor of Chawk Bazar Syed Golam Haider Mintu, who died on 18 March in 2021, was also made accused in the case.
The plaintiff in the case alleged that in the morning of 4 August last year, he was seriously injured in a violent attack by police and Awami League terrorists during a student-public movement in the New Market intersection. Some 16 bullets were removed from his legs after surgery at private Parkview Hospital while 12-13 bullets remained in his body. The plaintiff alleged that following the orders of Sheikh Hasina and other accused, indiscriminate firing was carried out on unarmed students and people on that day. Mentionable, some 30-40 unidentified officials of Kotwali Police Station and 50-60 Awami League leaders and activists were also made accused in the case.
