Chhatra League cast votes for Shibir, alleges Asaduzzaman Ripon
Bangla Press Desk: BNP Vice Chairman Asaduzzaman Ripon has said that all the members of Chhatra League voted for Chhatra Shibir. In order to defeat Chhatra Dal, Chhatra League has maintained its old friendship with Shibir. He made these comments yesterday while appearing on a talk show regarding the results of the DUCSU elections. Asaduzzaman Ripon said, “With Chhatra League now banned, and many of its members having close interactions with Shibir, a cordial and friendly relationship existed between them. The votes of Chhatra League have to go somewhere. There is always an old tie, an old relation, these things have an impact. Because of old friendships and relations, some votes shifted towards them.” Referring to the past connection between Chhatra League and Shibir, he said that Shibir once even carried the name of Chhatra League, held posts under it, took photographs in front of the sculpture of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and posed with its leaders.
Accusing the Awami League of supporting Shibir by considering BNP as its main rival, he said, “Chhatra League had a comfortable relationship with Shibir, a long-standing hidden or secret connection. Since Chhatra League has no ballot box of its own now, they will help Shibir,” he alleged.  This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
