CNG driver shot dead in Dhaka

Bangla Press Desk: A CNG-run autorickshaw driver was shot to death in Dhaka’s Jurain area on Monday evening.

The deceased was Pappu Sheikh, 27, son of Mantu Sheikh of Aamgram in Rajoir upazila of Madaripur.

Hridoy, the victim’s younger brother, alleged that drug dealers led by Pappa shot at his elder brother.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctors on duty declared him dead around 8:15pm, Hridoy said.

He added that his brother sustained two bullets in his stomach.

Jannatul Ferdousi, the wife of the victim, said that her husband left their Jurain residence after receiving a phone call. Later, she heard that he was shot dead.

Kadamtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Ayub told the Daily Sun that two gangs of drug dealers were locked in a clash.

The deceased, Pappu, was an associate of Kalu, the ringleader of one group, while another group leader, Pappa, fired the shots that killed Pappu, he said.

Police are conducting drives to arrest the killers, the OC added.
