Community Outreach in Korail: Zubaida’s Visit to Book and Health Camp
Bangla Press Desk: Zubaida Rahman, vice president of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation and wife of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, on Saturday visited a book distribution programme for children and a free medical camp in the Korail slum of the capital.
The programme organised by the Ziaur Rahman Foundation was held at the premises of T&T Women's College in Korail, Mohakhali area on Saturday.
On the occasion of the International Mother Language Day in February, Zubaida distributed 2,000 books to children and adolescents of the Korail slum.
Impoverished children and adolescents from the Korail slum area spontaneously participated in the book distribution programme.
The children were delighted to see Zubaida. They welcomed her with applause. She also waved her hands and went close to the children to express her feelings.
Zubaida spoke to the children with affection and warmth. Emphasising the importance of education, she urged the children to be more attentive towards their studies.
The children and adolescents were very happy to receive the free books.
Earlier, Zubaida inaugurated a ‘free medical camp’ for eye treatment of the slum dwellers.
At that time, she went to the patients, inquired about their well-being and exchanged greetings with all.
Chief Coordinator of the BNP's electoral office for Dhaka-17 constituency Abdus Salam, Joint Coordinator Farhad Halim Donor, former commissioner Abul Kalam Azad, Dhaka Metropolitan BNP member Reza Rahman Fahim and Joint Convener of Banani thana BNP Imam Hossain Nur were present during the programme.
