Cops among 3 killed in bus-truck collision in Narail

Bangla Press Desk: Three people, including a police officer, were killed as a bus collided head on with a truck in Narail. The accident took place on the Narail-Jashore highway in Bhangura Bazar area of Bagherpara upazila of the district around 10:45 pm on Sunday. Narail Police Superintendent Rabiul Islam confirmed the incident. The deceased were identified as Nikkan Aadhya, 35, a sub-inspector (SI) of the Lahuria Investigation Centre of Lohagara Police Station in Narail; Akhtar Hossain of the Basundia area of Jashore Sadar; and Abu Jafar of the Vekutia area of Jashore outskirts, who was the former deputy general secretary of the central parliament of the Swechchhasebak Dal.

Police said a truck loaded with bamboo was parked on the highway. At that time, a bus of 'Narail Express' paribahan which was going from Dhaka to Jashore, lost control and hit the truck from behind. As a result, the front part of the bus got twisted, leaving Akhter Hossain dead on the spot. Abu Jafar and SI Nikkan Aadhya were seriously injured in the accident. They were first taken to Jashore General Hospital where Abu Jafar succumbed to his injuries. Later, when SI Nikkan was being taken to Dhaka for better treatment, his condition deteriorated.
