Court imposes travel ban on retired Lt Col Asadul, his wife
Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on retired Lieutenant Colonel Md Asadul Islam and his wife Nasrin Shams over allegations of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income and conducting suspicious transactions through bank accounts.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order on Tuesday (10 March) following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).The information was confirmed by the bench assistant of the concerned court, Riaz Hossain.
Earlier, ACC Assistant Director Md Abdul Malek filed the application seeking a ban on the couple’s departure from the country.According to the petition, allegations have been raised against Asadul Islam and his wife Nasrin Shams for acquiring assets behind known sources of income and carrying out unusual financial transactions through bank accounts. To investigate the allegations, the ACC has formed a two-member investigation team.
The application also stated that reliable sources indicated the accused might attempt to leave the country. Therefore, preventing them from travelling abroad is essential to ensure a proper investigation into the allegations.
