Court orders legal action against group involved in pornography
Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court on Sunday ordered legal action against individuals involved in the administration and financial transactions of a Telegram-based pornography ring.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain issued the suo motu order after taking cognisance of a news report published in a national daily.
The order directs the deputy police commissioner of the Cyber and Special Crime Division of the Detective Branch (DB) to appoint a competent and skilled investigating officer to look into the matter and submit a probe report by 30 October.
The court also instructed that regular cases be filed in light of the findings revealed during the investigation.
On 18 October, a report was published in a national daily titled ‘Thousands of young women’s nude videos being sold on Telegram’.
The court took cognisance of the report under Section 190(1)(c) of the Code of Criminal Procedure and accepted it for judicial consideration, citing it as a matter of public importance. This article was originally published on the Daily Sun.
