Court orders probe report in actor Alvi’s wife death case

Bangla Press Desk:  A Dhaka court on Monday ordered the submission of the probe report by 15 April in a case filed over the death of actor Zaher Alvi’s wife, Afra Ibnat Ikra, whose hanging body was recovered from their Mirpur residence in the capital.

The accused in the case are actor Zaher Alvi and his mother, Nasrin Sultana Shiuli.Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin passed the order after accepting the First Information Report (FIR).

Earlier, at around 11:45am on 28 February, Ikra’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan at their residence. She was taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Ikra’s maternal uncle, Sheikh Tanvir Ahmed, filed a case on the same day, alleging that prolonged family disputes and various forms of abuse had driven his niece to commit suicide.Source: daily Sun
