Court orders seizure of tax files of ex-minister Rezaul, lawmaker Shamim Osman
Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court on Monday ordered the seizure of tax files former housing and public works minister SM Rezaul Karim, his wife Feroza Parveen and former lawmaker Shamim Osman.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order after accepting seven separate pleas submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the plea against SM Rezaul Karim, he allegedly abused power to illicitly acquire assets worth Tk7.96 crore, disproportionate to his known sources of income, and conducted suspicious transactions of Tk6.84 crore through 12 bank accounts.
His wife, Feroza Parveen, also acquired and possessed Tk4.06 crore disproportionate to her known sources of income, with his assistance.
According to the application against Shamim Osman, he amassed assets worth Tk6.67 crore by abusing his power, which is disproportionate to his known sources of income.
He allegedly conducted suspicious transactions of Tk439.82 crore through nine bank accounts in his name and linked to his interests.
