Court sets April 2 for Hadi murder case probe report

Bangla Press Desk:  A Dhaka court on Wednesday set 2 April for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit a report on its further investigation into the sensational murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order as the investigation agency failed to submit the report today.On 15 January, 2026, the court directed the CID to conduct further investigation into the murder as the complainant expressed dissatisfaction with the probe and filed a naraji petition against the charge-sheet submitted by the Detective Branch (DB) of police, seeking further investigation.

Inspector Foysal Ahmed of the DB submitted the charge-sheet on 6 January against 17 accused, including alleged shooter Foysal Karim Masud and his parents-Humayun Kabir and Hashi Begum.According to the case statement, Foysal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain opened fire on Hadi while he was travelling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw on 12 December, 2025, before fleeing the scene.

Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on 14 December.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad on 20 December ordered the inclusion of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code in the case, which was initially filed as attempted murder, following Hadi's death on 18 December.Source: daily Sun
