Cox’s Bazar shaken by 4.9 quake

Bangla Press Desk:   A mild earthquake rattled Cox’s Bazar and parts of the  Chattogram Hill Tracts and Chattogram city just before 1am on Monday. Residents of Cox’s Bazar town, Ukhiya, and Chakaria reported feeling the tremor at 12:57am.

Local residents said the shaking lasted only a few seconds. Officials reported no damage or injuries so far.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) confirmed that the earthquake measured 4.9 in magnitude and originated in Myanmar.

Authorities continue monitoring for aftershocks, while residents remain alert.
