Bangla Press Desk: The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) has arrested a fugitive death row convict who escaped from Kashimpur High Security Prison last year.
Acting on a tip-off, an operational team of the ATU conducted a raid in Tejturi Bazar under Tejgaon Police Station in Dhaka at around 7:00pm on Thursday.
During the operation, they arrested 23-year-old Sakib alias Babu, son of Mojibur Madbar of Momin Ali Farazi Kandi village of Zajira upazila in Shariatpur district.
According to ATU, Sakib and his accomplices abducted eighth-grade student Shakil Madbar (15) on 25 June 2020 from East Naodoba village in Zajira, demanding ransom from his family. When the ransom was not paid, they killed the boy and buried his body beside an under-construction railway bridge to conceal the crime.
