
Dengue cases surpass 50,000 this year
Three more die, 782 hospitalised in last 24 hours


Bangla Press Desk: Dengue cases surpassed 50,000 in 2025, as 782 more people were hospitalised in the past 24 hours till Monday morning.
With the latest hospialisations, the caseload reached 50,689, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest cases, 174 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 83 in Chattogram division, 145 in Dhaka division, 118 under the Dhaka North City Corporation, 90 under the Dhaka South City Corporation, 57 in Khulna division, 35 in Mymensingh division, 64 in Rajshahi division, 11 in Rangpur division, and five in Sylhet division.
DGHS data shows that men account for 60.9% of infections so far this year, while women represent 39.1%.
Meanwhile, three more deaths were reported from dengue in the 24-hour span, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in the country to 215 this year.
The fatalities included two men and a woman.
Two deaths were reported in DSCC and one in Khulna division, the DGHS said.
Currently, 2,473 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Dengue killed 575 people in 2024, with 1,01,214 cases recorded. The previous year saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 3,21,179 hospitalisations. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
