Dhaka-17 Jamaat candidate alleges army bias over cantonment denial
Bangla Press Desk: A video showing Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dhaka-17 candidate SM Khaliduzzaman in a heated argument with army personnel at a Dhaka cantonment checkpoint has been circulating on social media, drawing widespread attention and criticism.
The 7-minute and 36-second video shows Khaliduzzaman being stopped by on-duty army members after he attempted to enter the cantonment area while accompanied by a gunman. Army personnel are seen explaining that, for security reasons, no one is allowed to enter the cantonment with weapons or armed guards.
Despite the explanation, Khaliduzzaman appears agitated and challenges the restriction, accusing the army of bias.
In the footage, he is heard making politically charged remarks and alleging that the administration is being politicised. He also asks to speak to the army chief and later speaks to a senior officer over the phone, while instructing his associates to record the incident.
Army personnel repeatedly assure him of his safety inside the cantonment but maintain that the rules cannot be relaxed. Khaliduzzaman eventually leaves the area.
The video began circulating online on Monday (3 February). Later, Khaliduzzaman addressed the issue in a post on his verified Facebook page, calling the incident a “misunderstanding”, expressing regret, and claiming the matter had already been resolved.Source :daily Sun
