Dhaka warns expatriates in Malaysia over fake passport services
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has alerted Bangladeshi expatriates in Malaysia to remain cautious against fraudulent social media activities falsely promising passport services using the name and photograph of a High Commission employee. The High Commission issued a public warning stating that an individual operating under the Facebook ID “Chowdhury Babu” has been using the High Commission’s name, along with the photo of an employee, on Facebook and other social media platforms, offering passport-related services for expatriates. “It is to inform all, including Bangladeshi expatriates, that the Bangladesh High Commission has no connection whatsoever with any promises of passport or other services made through any ID other than the verified page of the High Commission,” read the statement. The High Commission further clarified that it will not bear any responsibility for any financial transactions conducted with such fraudulent IDs or individuals and urged all concerned to remain vigilant regarding such scams.
Officials said the High Commission remains committed to ensuring transparent and secure consular services for Bangladeshi nationals in Malaysia and requested that expatriates to verify any service-related communication only through the High Commission’s verified platforms.
