Doubts over election dispelled: Press Secretary
Bangla Press Desk: Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that the record turnout at the capital’s 300 Feet area, where people gathered to welcome BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, clearly proves the nation’s preparedness for the election.
Stating that doubts surrounding the election have now been removed, he added that there is no longer any uncertainty that the upcoming general election and referendum will be held on schedule.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Shafiqul Alam wrote: “The general election and referendum are now just seven weeks—49 days—away.”
He said there had never truly been any doubt about whether the election would be held on time, although at times he had to restrain his own enthusiasm. “However, the events of Thursday have removed even the last remaining doubts in the minds of critics. There is no longer any question—the election on 12 February will be held as scheduled,” he said.
