DU admin holds special prayer for Khaleda Zia’s recovery

Bangla Press Desk:  The Dhaka University (DU) administration has organised a special prayer mahfil praying for the early recovery of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The doa mahfil, held after Zohar on Sunday at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Mosque, drew a large turnout of senior university officials, teachers and employees.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Prof M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Abdus Salam, Proctor Prof Saifuddin Ahmed, acting registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed and teachers, officers and staff from various departments were present.

Addressing the gathering briefly, the vice-chancellor said, “We are all aware that Khaleda Zia is currently suffering from a serious illness. We are deeply concerned about her condition. She has made important contributions to society and the country, which is recognised regardless of political affiliation. Even those who are not involved in politics respect her. The large presence in today’s prayer mahfil reflects the affection people have for her.”

He added, “Our beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Sm.) emphasised the importance of enquiring about the sick. Inspired by this teaching, we have come together today. I express my gratitude to everyone who responded to the university’s call on such short notice. We sincerely pray that Begum Khaleda Zia recovers soon and is able to contribute again to the welfare of the people.”

The programme concluded with a special prayer seeking wellbeing for the country, the nation, the Muslim Ummah and all those who are recovering.

Chhatra Dal holds doa mahfil for Khaleda Zia’s recovery

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi  Chhatra Dal’s Dhaka University unit has organised a Khatme Quran and doa mahfil praying for the early recovery of Khaleda Zia.

The programme was held at the Dhaka University Central Juma Masjid around 11am on Sunday and concluded with a post-Zohar doa following the completion of the Khatme Quran.

DU Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, Senior Joint General Secretary Md Nasir Uddin Shawn, Organising Secretary Md Nur Alam Bhuiyan Emon and leaders and activists from the university and hall committees attended the mahfil.

National University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Lutfar Rahman, Dhaka University Physics Department Chairman Md Aminul Islam Talukder, Botany Department Prof Mohammad Mujaddidi Alfasani and Information Science and Library Management Department Prof Mejbah-ul-Islam were also present.

Participants prayed for the swift recovery and good health of Khaleda Zia.
