DU begins preparations to celebrate Pohela Boishakh
Bangla Press Desk: Preparations for celebrating the Pohela Boishakh 1433 (the first day of the Bangla New Year) officially began at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University (DU) on Monday.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, formally launched the preparatory activities as the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony.
Ekushey Padak-winning artist Professor Dr. Abdus Sattar addressed the ceremony as the special guest. The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
DU Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, assistant proctors, faculty members, students, cultural personalities, and artists were present, among others.
The DU Pro-VC, in her address, appreciated the faculty members, students, and alumni for their efforts in organising the celebrations for years. She noted that preliminary activities have already commenced through various committees to ensure the success of the traditional festival.
Professor Bidisha noted that the DU administration is working diligently to celebrate the Bangla New Year in a peaceful, orderly, festive, and joyous atmosphere. She also called upon everyone to extend their full cooperation in making the event a success.
