DU student jailed for impersonation during JU admission test
Bangla Press Desk: A student of the University of Dhaka (DU) has been sentenced to 15 days’ imprisonment for attempting to sit in the Jahangirnagar University (JU) undergraduate admission test as a proxy candidate.
The incident occurred on Monday, during the ‘B’ Unit (Faculty of Social Sciences) admission test for the 2025–26 academic year.
The impersonator was identified as Md Ihsanul Haque Jisan, a 2024–25 session student of the Department of Urdu at DU and a resident of Shahid Sergeant Zahirul Haq Hall.
He attempted to take the examination on behalf of an applicant named Rafi Hossain Sajid.
A mobile court conducted by Md Al Amin, assistant commissioner (land), taking cognisance of the offence, sentenced both the proxy candidate and the applicant to 15 days’ imprisonment.
They were later handed over to the Ashulia Police Station in Savar.
JU Proctor Prof AKM Rashidul Alam said invigilators became suspicious after noticing a mismatch between the applicant’s photograph and the examinee.
“Upon interrogation, the matter of impersonation was confirmed. The applicant’s registration number has been blocked, and the mobile court awarded jail terms for 15 days to both individuals,” he said.
